50 Years of the M Division is a big deal so the Bavarians have released their €187 000 BMW M4 GT4 as another celebration of the milestone. This purpose built race-car from factory makes the already track-focused CSL seem like a cushy land-barge.
The third BMW Competition, Sport, Lightweight (CSL) came out little over a month ago in the form of an M4 CSL and made waves in the automotive world. Now, a latest addition into the coupe portfolio has been added with the addition of a €187 000 BMW M4 GT4 race car and it is as hardcore as you’d expect a GT4 car to be. The second generation of its kind, the newcomer uses more lightweight components and some serious racing equipment as standard. As part of the many digit Euro sticker price, buyers also get air conditioning, heated windscreen, and a ventilated Recaro seat.
Part of the updated exterior includes a lightweight roof and rear wing from the GT3 car while a shopping list of aerodynamic updates are fitted on each facade of the €187 000 BMW M4 GT4. This includes an enormous front splitter, front canards, side skirts and changes to the rear bumper.
Other significant changes can be found on the inside, or what is left of the interior shall we rather say. Since it is a GT4 car, there is a lot of painted metal and protective scaffolding around the single driver’s seat which has bespoke dials and steering wheel directly in front.
Under the bonnet and depending on competition regulations, the inline-six can be good for as many as 405 kW and 650 N.m while being paired to a ZF seven-speed automatic transmission and an LSD. The real party trick is the configurable 10-step traction control system, H&R spring rates, and anti-roll bar adjustability.
Apart from the €187 000 BMW M4 GT4, we can also expect the new Le Mans Daytona (LMDh) prototype from the M division this year.
