The third generation of the Fiat 500 has been revealed as an electric-only offering for the international market but the now outgoing generation of the model is still being made available to our local market. The South African arm has now revised this range with new trim levels.
Starting the local Fiat 500 range off is the Cult with a price tag of R219 900. With this trim, a new Arancio Sicilia orange colour is offered alongside 14-inch steel wheels, black door mirrors, LED DRLs and halogen headlamps. Within the cabin, blue fabric branded seats join a dashboard that is finished in the body colour. Optionally available is a Techno Blue matte dashboard. Fitted as standard is a five-inch Uconnect multimedia system with USB ports, manual air-conditioning and a speed limiter.
The Fiat 500 Connect adds a slightly more conclusive offering to the range with a price of R260 900. This adds 15-inch alloy wheels, model-specific side skirts, a rear spoiler, foglamps integrated into the bumpers and a silver dual-tone body colour with a contrasting gloss black roof. Inside, a multifunction steering wheel and seven-inch infotainment system with two additional rear speakers have been included.
Those looking for a more spirited drive can opt for the Sport trim at R269 900 which adds 16-inch alloy wheels, a “sport” badge and model-specific side skirts, bumpers and rear spoiler. The body also boasts a new Cloud Grey paint shade and “arrow electro” seats with a titanium-finished dashboard. The cabin also hosts the aforementioned infotainment system with the added convenience of climate control.
All Fiat 500 models make use of the firm’s TwinAir 0,9-litre two-cylinder engine which delivers 63 kW and 145 N.m of torque to the front wheels. The three models mentioned above employ a five-speed manual gearbox.
If you’re not one for shifting gears, a five-speed automatic transmission can be had in the Dolcevita trim for R274 900. Included in this package is bespoke badging and chrome accents on the two-tone paintwork as well as bespoke 16-inch alloy wheels. This model also offers the Techno-leather multifunction steering wheel, a glass roof, Matelassé fabric seats with techno leather details and a 50/50 split rear seat.
The Fiat 500 Cabriolet range is exclusive to the Sport and Dolcevita trim with a price-tag of R319 900 and R324 900 respectively.
The updated Fiat 500 range does not come with a standard service plan but a five-year/100 000 km warranty is included in the offering.
