After a series of teasers, the Kimera Automobili EVO37 has finally been unveiled as a retro-inspired modernised rally hero based on the iconic Lancia 037. The rendition is road legal and put together by means of contemporary design and a cutting edge making process.
Methods such as 3D scanning, reverse engineering, CAD, CAE, rapid prototyping, CNC milling, sintering, electronics and the “non plus ultra” of the technological solutions have been implemented to put the Kimera Automobili EVO37 together.
For the foundation of the Kimera Automobili EVO37, a self-supporting tubular structure is applied in a way that the cage only acts as the shell of the frame and roll-bar of the driver cockpit and is accompanied by a set of adjustable Öhlins shock-absorbers. The suspension is completed by a set of 18-inch front and 19-inch rear alloy wheels stuck to a set of Pirelli tyres.
For power, the original Monobloc from the 037 has been used with an increased displacement from 1 995 cm3 to 2 150 cm3 with a bore x stroke of 85 x 95 mm. Twin-charging will be provided by means of a centrifugal turbocharger and roots type volumetric compressor with an electronically managed electro-clutch. The end result of this is a power output of 368 kW available from 7 000 – 7 250 r/min and 550 N.m of torque, 400 N.m of which is available from 2 000 r/min.
The longitudinal mid-mounted engine will deliver power to the rear axle via a six-speed manual gearbox with automated rev-matching. Stopping power is provided by a 365 mm carbon ceramic ventilated brake discs and four piston calipers by Brembo on the front and rear axle.
As a tribute to the badge, only 37 units of the Kimera Automobili EVO37 will be assembled. 11 of these have already been sold to notable car collectors around the world. Pricing for this car starts at €480 000 (approximately R8,1 million).
