The Mahindra Pik Up Karoo Dusk has been revealed as a limited run offering for the Indian bakkie for the South African market. Based on the S11 model, the new edition features a number of roughed trimmings that cater to the more adventurous consumer.
The Mahindra Pik Up Karoo Dusk will sell for R549 999. Included in this package is a hard-wearing matte black film applied throughout the body as well as a styling bar on the rear load bay, side-mounted steel steps, robust over fenders and roller shutter door as found on the standard Karoo.
Contrasting the dark design of the Mahindra Pik Up Karoo Dusk is a special dark-blue hue for the decals and distinctive acacia-tree in the Karoo logo. This is contrasted by a set of machined 16-inch off-road alloy wheels finished in black with silver detailing on the outer rim. Grip is provided by a set of mud terrain GT tyres.
Catering to ardent off-roaders is an additional set of bumpers that boast a machined steel finish. This fixture adds functionality through courses by increasing the approach and departure angles. Both bumpers have been designed with overlanding in mind with the rear doubling up as a heavy-duty side step and a mounting point for a high-lift jack, extra heavy-duty recovery loops and a tow bar with flush-mounted electric connection as standard.
The front bumper benefits from a powder-coated steel bush finish which protects the front headlamps. It also houses a special set of LED spotlamps, red recovery loops and jack mounting points.
The suspension features special heavy-duty gas-filled off-road shock absorbers, heavy-duty custom-designed leaf springs and new suspension bushes. While these upgrades do not change the Karoo Dusk’s ground clearance, it has been claimed that they ensure faultless performance on dirt, rock, sand and mud, while not adversely affecting its road manners.
All Karoo Dusk models are sold with a four-year/120 000 km mechanical warranty and five-year/90 000 km service plan.
