The Mercedes-Benz EQE has been revealed as an expansion of the German brand’s fully electric line-up. This business avant-garde sedan will slot in directly under the flagship EQS.
Where design is concerned, the Mercedes-Benz EQE features a sporty design with characteristic elements of Mercedes-EQ. This includes the one-bow silhouette and cab-forward design. The overhangs and the front end are kept short while the rear accentuates a dynamic accent with a sharp rear spoiler. On the axles, 19- to 21-inch wheels are available to further enhance a muscular shoulder section.
The cabin of the Mercedes-Benz EQE is accommodated by a 3 120 mm wheelbase. This makes it a bit roomier than the current W213 E-Class which is essentially its ICE twin. Notable increases in size include the shoulder room in the front by 27 mm and the interior length by 80 mm. The seating position is 65 mm more generous while boot capacity measures in at a claimed 430 dm3.
The battery of the Mercedes-Benz EQE has a usable energy content of 90 kWh and a claimed range of up to 660 km The model range will include two variants at market launch. This includes a EQE 350 with 215 kW and a second model that is yet to be detailed. Performance variants with around 500 kW are being planned as well.
A new feature that the Mercedes-Benz EQE will introduce is the Energising Air Control Plus system. This is based on filtration, sensors, a display concept and air conditioning. The HEPA filter has been implemented to trap fine particles, micro-particles, pollen and other substances entering with the outside air. The activated charcoal coating reduces sulphur dioxide, nitrogen oxides and odours in the interior. Using pre-entry climate control, it is also possible to clean the interior air before getting into the vehicle. The fine-particle values outside and inside the vehicle are also displayed in the climate line. If the quality of the outside air is low, the system can also recommend closing the side windows or sunroof, as well as automatically switching to recirculation mode.
The latest generation of driving assistance systems will be implemented into the Mercedes-Benz EQE as well. This includes the additional microsleep warning from Attention Assist. It analyses the driver’s eyelid movements using a camera in the driver display. The assistance display within the driver’s display shows the operation of the driving assistance systems in a comprehensible full-screen view.
