With Red Bull dominating after Ferrari’s complete capitulation in the streets of Baku, the season seems to be playing into the hands of current title leader Max Verstappen as he defends his crown. The Dutchman will seek to extend his lead at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve for the 2022 Canada Grand Prix.

For the first time in three years, the Canada Grand Prix has returned to the racing calendar and will serve as the ninth round of the current Formula 1 season. With the long and bumpy straights of the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve and tortuous porpoising evident in the streets of Baki, particularly for a thwarted Lewis Hamilton, the FIA has made a ruling to reduce the dangerous phenomenon in the name of safety.
The Technical Directive has been issued that will place closer scrutiny on the vertical oscillations experienced by the car during a lap which will be accessible to the FIA to ensure driver safety is adhered to. Catch more of this on Twitter.
While Red Bull team principal Christian Horner has deemed this Directive unfair for cars that aren’t suffering from the aerodynamic ground effect, Verstappen has extended a 21 point lead over teammate Perez and a 34 point lead over Leclerc. After the double Ferrari mechanical retirement in Azerbaijan, the Bulls have also increased their constructors points lead to 81 over the Scuderia.
On the Canadian circuit itself, Hamilton has found good favour by equalling the record seven victories that Michael Schumacher set in the early 2000s golden era but based on current form and the torrid characteristics of the W13, this record is unlikely to be broken.
