Chery’s Australian arm has announced a partnership with Ironman 4×4 to offer the Grootman double-cab bakkie with a raft of off-road-focused accessories.

Penned in to launch in South Africa in the first quarter of 2027 and confirmed for local production, the Chery Grootman has been handed a selection of off-road-focused kit Down Under, where it is named the Stockman, through Chery Australia’s partnership with Ironman 4×4. These accessories will be available directly from dealerships.
Through this collaboration, Chery’s Australian arm offers the Grootman with Ironman 4×4’s Apex Bull Bar – a full-width triple hoop-style aluminium item incorporating a winch cradle, a duo of recovery points, and a 4 mm thick skid plate – premium side rails and steps, a Raid roof rack featuring the option of mounting points for the fitment of additional lighting, and a Raid canopy. Further accessories include roller drawers and a rear-step tow bar. In addition, customers can also specify Ironman 4×4’s IM2.5 suspension kit, which increases ground clearance by 50 mm. As we highlighted in 2027 Chery Grootman: Powertrain, off-road capability and specs detailed, the Grootman sports a 247 mm default ground clearance.
While the Grootman is available with these items from dealers, the Wuhu-based brand maintains the accessories are all engineered and validated to OEM requirements. This allows the Australian off-road accessory firm to match Chery’s seven-year manufacturer warranty on every accessory ordered.
There has been no word on whether we will see a similar partnership with South African-based accessory companies. However, a fair bet would be that we could see locally based companies looking to invest in OEM-certified aftermarket partnerships upon the Grootman’s launch next year.
As a reminder, the Grootman employs a diesel plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain. The first-for-its-segment setup pairs a 2.5-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine and a single electric motor for combined power and torque outputs of 350 kW and 800 N.m. Power is delivered to all four corners via a dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT). A lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) battery with a capacity of 34 kWh forms part of the PHEV configuration.
