Mini Australia has revealed an extremely exclusive Mini Lucky 13 Edition, honouring a motorsport legend who used the original Cooper S to conquer muscle cars on the country’s most famous circuit…

Mini Australia has revealed the limited-run Mini Lucky 13 Edition, based on the John Cooper Works platform. The special release marks sixty years since Australian driver Bob Holden and Finnish rally icon Rauno Aaltonen secured victory at Mount Panorama. The pair drove a Morris Mini Cooper S to total triumph in the 1966 Gallaher 500 endurance race.
The new Mini Lucky 13 Edition honours the original racecar through custom equipment and distinct visual traits. The vehicle name stems from Bob Holden. The veteran driver previously raced car 13 and chose the number again from a draw, keeping it as a sign of good fortune.
Limited production and historic legacy

The 1966 Bathurst event established an incredible achievement for the marque. Holden and Aaltonen completed the race one full lap ahead of second place. Mini models dominated the leaderboard completely, claiming every position from first to ninth. The performance proved how agility and balance could outperform larger V8 competitors. Holden built an extensive legacy across six decades, contributing to over fifty Bathurst endurance races as driver and team leader.
Merging modern performance with heritage styling

Distinctive circular decal graphics featuring the number 13 act as the main theme for the exterior. The body features British Racing Green IV paint paired with a Glazed White roof, matching mirror caps, and white bonnet stripes. John Cooper Works enhancements include 18-inch Rallye Spoke wheels in Frozen Midnight Grey, high-gloss black aero winglets, a carbon-fibre tailpipe finisher, and a red tow strap.
The interior continues the motorsport aesthetic. Inside, drivers receive John Cooper Works seats, an Anthracite headliner, and a sustainable recycled polyester dashboard trim. A 240 mm circular OLED central screen controls digital media functions. Drivers also benefit from head-up display tech, heated power front seats with memory features, and a 12-speaker Harman Kardon audio system.
