The Mitsubishi Outlander Diamond Trail debuts for SEMA 2026 as an off-road-inspired package for the midsize SUV…

Mitsubishi Motors North America marked a major comeback at the 2026 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, US, with the Japanese carmaker returning to the world-famous automotive aftermarket event for the first time since 2012. Taking centre stage at Mitsubishi’s exhibit was the 2028 Outlander Diamond Trail Edition. This debut drives the next phase of the company’s ‘Momentum 2030’ business strategy, which focuses on expanding vehicle capability and building models for more adventurous clientele. Six vehicles grace the stand, ranging from factory adventure-focused models to customised off-road builds. This release follows the global reveal of the new Pajero, which has been confirmed for South Africa, and reinforces the brand’s commitment to four-wheel-drive technology.
Off-Road capability and technology

The Outlander Diamond Trail Edition delivers real off-road hardware for family travel. Engineers enhanced the standard Super-All Wheel Control system with the addition of an exclusive ‘Rock’ mode. This system applies quick brake control to suppress wheel-slip on rough surfaces. Selecting ‘Rock’ mode automatically activates hill descent control to help manage steep downhills safely. Drivers can view vital information on a new digital instrument display, including steering angle, wheel-slip, and traction intervention. The Multi-View Camera System now stays active at speeds of up to 30 km/h (up from 10 km/h).
Rugged styling and interior

The exterior of the Outlander Diamond Trail Edition features a bold matte black grille, dark trim for the ‘Dynamic Shield’, and blacked-out headlamps. Redesigned bumpers improve approach and departure angles to 20.5 and 23.1 degrees, respectively. Chunky over-fenders frame 18-inch black alloy wheels fitted with Nexen Roadian ATX all-terrain tyres. Sturdy roof rails make top-rack installation effortless. The model debuts a striking Trail Green Metallic paint colour with contrast white roof. Inside, water-repellent dark grey upholstery features khaki contrast stitching. The cabin incorporates dark chrome, satin accents, and special logos on the seatbacks and floor mats.
