Both Haas and Red Bull have revealed what their 2022 challenger will look like, but now the heavily branded Aston Martin AMR22 has broken cover and it is the actual car that will take to the race track this year.
Feast your eyes on the first, actual new-era Formula 1 challenger from the Aston Martin Aramco Cognizant Formula One Team AMR22 which we can expect to see on the track in a few weeks time. Four-time World Champion Sebastian Vettel and son of international mogul and team owner; Lance Stroll gave their initial impressions on the novel creation that has come out of the Silverstone based team.
At the start of the presentation, the silhouette was proudly draped with the Union Jack. Once the covering was removed, a heavily branded Aston Martin AMR22 with a base coat of an updated British Racing Green was revealed.
Both drivers for the middle order team are hopeful for the new season after a mediocre performance in 2021 and a moderate season in 2020 after an identical looking car to the title-winning Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team 2019 winning car was revealed for the season.
Speaking of which, Andrew Green the current chief technical officer at the Aston Martin Formula One team stated that he thinks that the cloning of the Mercedes car “has opened their eyes and thus will have definitely helped them build and develop their car for the 2022 campaign.”
While teams have had a clean sheet of paper to build on for the upcoming season and no precedents to copy, we can already see some differences between this example and that of the drivers’ title defending Red Bull RB18. The next few weeks will have all of the teams presenting their challengers and we can expect each of them to manipulate the rules differently.
