Penned in to make its debut in early 2027, reports suggest Honda is planning an affordable new electric crossover based on the 0 SUV concept car.

According to reports, Honda is developing a new all-electric crossover/SUV. Set to be based on the sleek-looking 0 SUV prototype, the box-fresh EV will be built in India. The global debut is scheduled for early next year. This comes after the Japanese automaker cancelled most of its future EV plans to reassess its electrification strategy.
In terms of size, the EV will slot in between the HR-V and ZR-V. The emissions-free crossover/SUV will be underpinned by Honda’s in-house ‘skateboard’ platform, Autoevolution suggests. From what we understand, it will be available with either a 61 or 75 kWh battery, with a targeted electric operating range of up to 650 km. Honda is remaining tight-lipped around further performance details.
In addition, the carmaker is aiming to position the upcoming EV as a more affordable model, Robert Thorp, Honda Australia Director, told Carsguide. Reports suggest the EV could enter the market with a price below $40 000 (AUD), or around R468 000 at the current Rand-Australian Dollar exchange rate.
The 0 SUV (pictured here) features an angular profile with a raked windshield and low roofline. Its front fascia includes a black panel with pixelated headlamps, an illuminated Honda badge, and a prominent vent for battery cooling. The U-shaped taillamps wrap around a narrow windshield. The cabin of the Honda concept plays host to digital instrumentation, a central touchscreen, and a front passenger display. Monitors replace traditional side mirrors.
