The Audi TT has been discontinued for three years. However, Porsche has now confirmed the Ingolstadt-based brand may be reviving this nameplate thanks to the electrified platform of the next 718 Boxster and Cayman EVs…

Porsche CFO Jochen Breckner has confirmed that Audi is planning to revive the discontinued TT model line by using a Porsche electric vehicle (EV) platform. According to Motor1, Breckner made the announcement at the Stuttgart marque’s third quarter earnings call. Breckner stated that Porsche is offering the EV underpinnings of the next-generation 718 Boxster and Cayman to an Audi project internally named ‘C-Sport’. Porsche expects financial compensation from Audi in 2027.
Industry analysts always expected Audi to introduce an electric sportscar to replace the TT. However, this announcement provides the first official confirmation regarding the adoption of the Porsche platform. Audi designated the project with the ‘C-Sport’ moniker, indicating alignment with the Concept C’s design philosophy. The Concept C also mirrors the design language of the Audi Nuvolari, creating a visually distinct performance model.
What to expect from Audi’s electric TT successor
Official sources have confirmed the brand with the four rings will not reuse the ‘TT’ moniker for the production version, though the new model will retain compact proportions, minimalist styling, and a low-slung cabin layout similar to the TT. Underneath, the sportscar will feature a bespoke, dual electric-motor powertrain delivering power to the road via quattro all-wheel drive. Additionally, Audi is refining virtual gearbox software and artificial acoustic feedback to enhance driver engagement.
Simultaneously, Porsche is advancing its own electric sportscar programme, preparing the fully electric 718-series to succeed the internal combustion models. Set to debut as a 2027 model year offering, the electric 718 platform underpins mid-battery packaging designed to mirror the classic mid-engine handling dynamics and low seating position of traditional petrol-powered models. Offered in rear-wheel-drive and dual-motor all-wheel-drive configurations, the electric 718 delivers substantial power outputs, while establishing a distinct benchmark for track durability and weight distribution in the electric performance sector.
